Help NMPolitics.net keep pace with fundraising goal

Last week we fell behind the pace we need to keep to reach our fundraising goal by April 30. Please, make a donation today to help sustain this site!

NMPolitics.net passed the halfway point in its annual fundraising drive last week but hasn’t yet reached 50 percent of its goal of raising $18,000 by April 30. We need your help to keep pace!

Make a donation today at nmpolitics.net/contribute.

As of today, we’ve raised $8,837, or 49 percent of our goal. Your donations help sustain this site, which can’t survive on revenue from advertising sales alone. This year, I’m hoping to raise enough money to hire reporting help.

NMPolitics.net ‘can be counted on’

Denise Tessier of Cedar Crest, who donated $10 last year and $20 this year, explained why it’s important to support NMPolitics.net:

“New Mexico is fortunate to have a journalist of Heath Haussamen’s caliber, and his news site, which I visit daily, reflects his integrity and news sense. Heath not only provides a reliable, knowledgeable source of reportage for Southern New Mexico, but can be counted on to shed light on important news developments statewide, via both news stories and insightful commentary.”

As an example, Denise cited my recent work to go through “dozens of pages of court documents to redact personal information… before posting court documents related to alleged voting crimes in Sunland Park” because the individuals named had not yet been charged with a crime.

“This is a prime example of Haussamen’s integrity, commitment to responsible journalism and thoroughness in covering a story,” Denise said.

I appreciate Denise’s words and her donations to help keep this site going. In fact, 97 people have already made donations during this year’s fundraising drive. Thanks to all of you for your support! It makes it financially possible for me to keep this site going, and it provides an emotional boost when the weight of running this site wears on me. (And, from time to time, it certainly does. It’s a lot of work.)

If you haven’t already made a contribution, I hope you’ll do so today. Again, you can donate at nmpolitics.net/contribute.
