An election will most likely be held on April 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On Tuesday, commissioners must formally vote to give notice of a public hearing on the proposed tax increase. Assuming the measure passes, the hearing will be held before the commission in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Following that hearing, commissioners will cast the final vote on whether to hold the election, but they\u2019ve already made their intention to do that clear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">At Tuesday\u2019s meeting, expect <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Butler<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> to again voice his opposition to any public dollars going to the spaceport. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Butler<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> views public funding as the county paying for rich people to fly into space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Commissioner Bill McCamley, since the October vote, has visited the governing bodies of municipalities and school districts in the county and other groups to try to convince them that building the spaceport is an investment in economic development that will create jobs and bring more tax revenue into the county that can be spent on improving infrastructure and other issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019ve been to a couple of McCamley\u2019s presentations and spoken with him and others about presentations I missed.
