Bill Richardson, and his firm made almost $1 million advising the state in 2004, the financial Web site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601087&#038;sid=arGcEa8mMhEs&amp;refer=home\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg.com<\/a> reported today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> spokesman told the news organization that the governor had no role in the selection of CDR Financial Products, which was selected through a competitive bidding process. A spokesman for the company said its president David Rubin, who gave the gifts to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s PACs in 2003 and 2004, had no comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">CDR was paid $951,566 in 2004 to advise the New Mexico Finance Authority on $420 million of interest-rate swaps, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Federal prosecutors are trying to determine whether banks and brokers conspired to fix prices on bonds bought by municipalities to invest the proceeds that weren\u2019t immediately spent on schools and sewers, Bloomberg reported. The Justice Department has subpoenaed more than a dozen banks and insurers and raided three brokers \u2013 one of them Rubin\u2019s company \u2013 as part of the probe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The article does not implicate <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:City> or the State of <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> in any way in the investigation.
