Polls are open until 7 p.m. in today’s Las Cruces municipal election.<\/p>\n

“Everything is up and running, and we’re running smoothly,” said David Aguayo,\u00a0senior office assistant in the City Clerk’s Office.<\/p>\n

Las Crucens can vote at any of the 14 voting convenience centers<\/a> around the city.<\/p>\n

Jamie Bronstein voted at Highland Elementary School on the city’s east side without problem.<\/p>\n

“There were zero people in line at 7 a.m.,” Bronstein\u00a0said<\/a>. “I was in and out of there in two minutes.”<\/p>\n

District 2 City Councilor Gregory Z. Smith, who’s facing Philip VanVeen on today’s\u00a0ballot, posted on Facebook<\/a> that he was the 12th voter at the Frank O’Brien Papen Center on the city’s south side. “Voted!!!” Smith posted at about 7:40 a.m.<\/p>\n

Barbara Alvarez also voted at the Papen Center shortly before 8 a.m.<\/p>\n

“There were a few people in front of me and three or four came in after me, so it was a little busier,” Alvarez said<\/a>. “Very fast voting!”<\/p>\n

Steve Monta\u00f1o reported higher interest at the\u00a0Do\u00f1a Ana County Government Center on the city’s west side. He said he was the 45th voter there at just after 8 a.m.<\/p>\n
