I have a track record of generating more money for our schools and a proven commitment to healing and protecting our state lands. I\u2019m eager to return to the state land office, where there\u2019s much to be done.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In this video, Powell cautions against ideas to tap the state&#8217;s permanent fund to help offset the state&#8217;s current budget shortfall:<\/p>\n<p>[youtube]http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cDK64KJ7ERs[\/youtube]<\/p>\n<p>Powell faces three other Democrats in the land commissioner primary: Santa Fe Commissioners <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/10\/montoya-announces-candidacy-for-land-commissioner\/\">Harry Montoya<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafecounty.org\/county_commissioners\/mike_anaya\">Mike Anaya<\/a> and PRC Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/09\/jones-will-run-for-land-commissioner-not-re-election\/\">Sandy Jones<\/a>. On the Republican side, GOP activist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imbackingbob.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bob Cornelius<\/a> and retired law-enforcement agent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.erroljchavez.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Errol Chavez<\/a> are running.
