Our only real ideology is holding power accountable, no matter who wields it; fighting for transparency; and helping everyone, regardless of their beliefs, have a voice in the conversation about bettering our society.<\/p>\n<p>You won\u2019t always agree with articles NMPolitics.net publishes. That&#8217;s not why we&#8217;re here. Our aim is to build a community where people challenge each other and work together to find productive ways forward.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Mullins of Farmington, a Republican who ran for Congress in 2010, has donated to NMPolitics.net several times. He gave $50 earlier this year, saying journalists \u201cdo the heavy lifting for all of us to ensure the powerful answer difficult and sometimes unpleasant questions in a timely manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you value freedom,\u201d Mullins said, \u201csupporting a free and independent investigative press should be worth not only your time reading their stories but your money supporting their survival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NMPolitics.net needs you to support our survival. He has been reading NMPolitics.net for years, and says, \u201cwhile I don\u2019t always agree with (Haussamen\u2019s) take, it is never because he slants the information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn other words, NMPolitics is a trustworthy insight into New Mexico&#8217;s often murky and slippery political scene,\u201d Corso said. \u201cI hope Heath can sustain his efforts. Our contributions small and large will make that possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Angelica Rubio of Las Cruces, a social-justice activist, is currently signed up to make automatic, monthly $10 contributions. Rubio says she\u2019s \u201chumbled\u201d to have been donating for years \u2013 and she hopes you\u2019ll contribute too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou may not agree with what is written at times, but the difference between a lot of news outlets and NMPolitics is that Heath is CONSISTENTLY impartial, and that\u2019s what matters to me,\u201d Rubio recently wrote in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10156125162375066&amp;set=a.154250460065.236579.679805065&amp;type=3&amp;permPage=1\" target=\"_blank\">a Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Monta\u00f1o of Las Cruces, a state government retiree, has donated several times, including giving $25 this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNMPolitics.net has always been a fair and dependable source for New Mexico information and I have always donated financially to continue this great forum,\u201d Monta\u00f1o said. \u201cI would encourage folks to make a donation today to allow NMPolitics.net to continue its great work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Please, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/donate\/\" target=\"_blank\">donate today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Discussion without vitriol\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>When I wrote about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/10\/heres-why-im-not-calling-for-durans-resignation\/\" target=\"_blank\">my decision<\/a> to not call for embattled Secretary of State Dianna Duran\u2019s resignation, the NMPolitics.net community was clear: Most of you thought I was wrong to err on the side of Duran\u2019s due-process rights at the expense of the integrity of the Secretary of State\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>So, earlier this week, I wrote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/10\/duran-needs-to-resign-many-nmpolitics-net-readers-say\/\" target=\"_blank\">an article<\/a> about your disagreement with me.<\/p>\n<p>That illustrates what I\u2019m trying to do with NMPolitics.net. We&#8217;re a community with open discussions. You help shape the narratives. This is a partnership.<\/p>\n<p>As NMPolitics.net states on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\">our\u00a0\u201cabout\u201d page<\/a>, we \u201caim\u00a0to do journalism that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/04\/journalism-as-a-conversation\/\" target=\"_blank\">fosters conversation\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/04\/journalism-thats-for-all-people\/\" target=\"_blank\">builds community<\/a>. We\u2019ve more than tripled the number of people who like our Facebook page from 800 to 2,800.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve had some really productive discussions on Facebook and the NMPolitics.net website that have helped people find common ground and build bridges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you live in the Land of Enchantment, or just seek an example of balanced, civil news and discussion, please check out the site,\u201d Craig Richard Bullock of Las Cruces recently wrote in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/craig.r.bullock.9\/posts\/10153594716790279\" target=\"_blank\">a Facebook post<\/a>. \u201c(Haussamen) has forgone the traditional route and endeavored to create a forum for advancement by discussion without vitriol. It\u2019s an amazing undertaking and deserves recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over and over, I hear people bemoan the level of discourse in our society.
