{"id":90368,"date":"2015-10-08T14:36:26","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T20:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=90368"},"modified":"2015-10-09T09:54:47","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T15:54:47","slug":"hearing-in-duran-case-pushed-back-to-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/10\/hearing-in-duran-case-pushed-back-to-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Hearing in Duran case pushed back to December"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_55834\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignleft\" style=\"max-width: 336px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-55834\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Duran-Dianna-336x232.jpg\" alt=\"Dianna Duran\" width=\"336\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Duran-Dianna-336x232.jpg 336w, https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Duran-Dianna.jpg 518w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-media-credit\">Courtesy photo<\/p><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dianna Duran<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A judge has granted a request by Secretary of State Dianna Duran&#8217;s attorney to delay an important hearing in her criminal case until Dec. 1.<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary hearing, which was initially scheduled to begin Oct. 30, is expected to last several days.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/politics-government\/article38169036.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Associated Press<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Defense attorney Erlinda Johnson made the request for more time last month, saying she had to review information provided by prosecutors that includes hours of audio interviews and grand jury proceedings as well as more than 20,000 pages of banking records and other financial documents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a very technical case,&#8221; Johnson told the judge about the 65 counts of fraud, embezzlement and tampering with state records faced by her client. &#8220;The documents are vast.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Duran is facing charges including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/08\/nm-secretary-of-state-charged-with-fraud-embezzlement-money-laundering\/\" target=\"_blank\">fraud, embezzlement, money laundering<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/10\/duran-faces-new-felony-charge-of-identity-theft\/\" target=\"_blank\">identity theft<\/a>\u00a0for allegedly\u00a0using campaign funds to keep her personal bank account in the black.
