The mayor is also a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Democrats, in turn, have a chance to push their narrow majority to a 6-3 advantage \u2013 enough to override mayoral vetoes \u2013 if they can defeat the council\u2019s longest-serving member, Republican Brad Winter, in the conservative Northeast Heights.
