Heather Wilson, R-N.M., but it\u2019s increasingly looking like it\u2019s too little, too late.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">About 20 percent of more than 3,700 provisional ballots were disqualified Wednesday but, later in the day, 616 in-lieu-of ballots went to <st1:state st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:state>, compared to 293 for <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> now has a 1,164-vote lead, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freenewmexican.com\/news\/52195.html\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Left to count are 1,494 provisional ballots, 71 in-lieu-of ballots and about 420 \u201cin suspense\u201d ballots. Those 420 ballots will almost all likely be tossed out, Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera told the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/512643nm11-16-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger2\/6506\/2852\/1600\/Wilson%2C%20Heather.0.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger2\/6506\/2852\/200\/Wilson%2C%20Heather.0.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>According to the newspaper\u2019s analysis, if all the remaining ballots \u2013 including those Herrera says will likely be tossed out \u2013 are counted, <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> would have to get 79 percent of the remaining votes to win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">If the remaining ballots keep going her way at the rate of those counted Wednesday, <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> won\u2019t win, but she may be close enough to request a recount.
