He is still recovering from a four-year campaign for sheriff that ended with a defeat in last week\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt took a toll,\u201d Misquez said. \u201cI\u2019m not ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Misquez didn\u2019t discount the possibility of applying for a magistrate position in the future. He said he and Democrat Joel Cano, who would have been his undersheriff if he had been elected, discussed the magistrate job after the New Mexico Supreme Court removed Carlos Garza from it last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cano called to ask Misquez if he was going to apply, and when he found out Misquez would not, said he was going to apply. Misquez said he gave Cano his blessing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Meanwhile, the governor\u2019s office announced today that it\u2019s seeking applicants for the position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Interested candidates must send applications, signed background check forms, <span style=\"color:black;\">r\u00e9sum\u00e9s and letters of recommendation to Governor Bill Richardson, Attention Legal Division, <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Capitol<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Building<\/st1:placetype>, <st1:address st=\"on\"><st1:street st=\"on\">Suite<\/st1:street> 400<\/st1:address>, <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Santa Fe<\/st1:city>, <st1:state st=\"on\">NM<\/st1:state> <st1:postalcode st=\"on\">87501<\/st1:postalcode><\/st1:place>.
