The election will be certified in <st1:placename st=\"on\">Otero<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype> on Thursday, but a final tally in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> may wait until next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Those in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Otero<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> are relevant to the House District 53 race between Republican incumbent Terry Marquardt and Democratic challenger Nate Cote because 2 of 10 precincts are in that county. In that race, <st1:place st=\"on\">Cote<\/st1:place> is beating Marquardt by 180 votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Cote<\/st1:place> has 2,631 votes, or 51.8 percent. Marquardt has 2,451 votes, or 48.2 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cYes, I believe I\u2019ve won this race,\u201d <st1:place st=\"on\">Cote<\/st1:place> said. \u201cI\u2019m confident that whatever provisional ballots are out there will just give me a larger lead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Marquardt is out of town, his secretary said, and could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Steinborn%2C%20Jeff.4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Steinborn%2C%20Jeff.4.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In the House District 37 race, Democrat Jeff Steinborn also believes he has won. Steinborn has 4,798 votes, or 51.55 percent. Republican Scott Witt has 4,501 votes, or 48.55 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That gives Steinborn a 289-vote lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI do believe we\u2019ve won this race, and we\u2019re very excited and ready to go,\u201d Steinborn said. \u201cI really do look forward to serving all the constituents, not just those who voted for me \u2026 and doing the right thing and putting partisanship behind us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI think that\u2019s the biggest message from this election,\u201d Steinborn said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Witt said he\u2019s not conceding the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to wait and see what happens and let the process work its way through,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll let it take its course, and we\u2019ll live with whatever the outcome is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Butler%2C%20Oscar.5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Butler%2C%20Oscar.5.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In the county commission District 1 race, Democrat Oscar Vasquez Butler was declaring victory in his re-election bid. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Butler<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has 4,043 votes, or 52.9 percent. Republican John Zimmerman has 3,600 votes, or 47.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Butler<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> has a 443-vote lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt was a tough battle. There was a lot of money that was put into my opponent\u2019s race,\u201d he said. \u201cHe really ran a dirty race.
