{"id":818,"date":"2006-11-07T14:52:00","date_gmt":"2006-11-07T20:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2006\/11\/additional-poll-workers-report-few-problems\/"},"modified":"2006-11-07T14:52:00","modified_gmt":"2006-11-07T20:52:00","slug":"additional-poll-workers-report-few-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2006\/11\/additional-poll-workers-report-few-problems\/","title":{"rendered":"Additional poll workers report few problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019ve visited four additional precincts in the central and northwest portions of <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, and workers there also report few problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">At <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Valley<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placename st=\"on\">View<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Elementary School<\/st1:placetype> in inner-city <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>, 79 of 990 registered voters had cast votes by 12:30 p.m. in Precinct 48.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">At <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Picacho<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Middle School<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> on the city\u2019s northwest side, there are two precincts. In Precinct 88, 27 of 316 had voted by 1 p.m. In Precinct 87, 214 of 1,126 had cast votes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">At <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Fairacres<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Elementary School<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> on <st1:street st=\"on\"><st1:address st=\"on\">Picacho Avenue<\/st1:address><\/st1:street>, 219 of 1,164 registered voters had cast votes by 1:10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As was the case with other polling places I visited today, poll workers at these sites reported that very few provisional ballots have been cast. This is a great sign that we will likely be able to know the results of close races later tonight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We\u2019ve had to await results from close races in recent elections because of the high numbers of provisional ballots used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019m reporting now from the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Government<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Center<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>, where I\u2019ll be throughout the night while ballots are counted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">There have been a few glitches in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> today. There have been some problems with the switch to electronic machines in other states.
