The show will be broadcast at 7 <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">p.m.<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Mountain<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> Standard Time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> residents, however, will have to visit the network\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/cn8.tv\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a> to watch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cn8.tv\/shared\/video\/cn8winmedia.asx\" target=\"_blank\">live video<\/a> of the debate. Though Comcast is the local cable provider, the company\u2019s network isn\u2019t televised here. The network reaches the homes of more than 9 million viewers in 20 television markets that are primarily on the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I had to wait several minutes for the Internet video of the network\u2019s programming to load, so be patient.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">McCamley, who is 28 and currently serving his first term in an elected office, said he knows Diaz, who is the director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/daywithoutanimmigrant.com\/index.php?option=com_frontpage&#038;Itemid=1&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Day Without an Immigrant<\/a> coalition in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Philadelphia<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> and is from Do\u00f1a Ana. When the show\u2019s producers told Diaz they wanted someone who lives on the border to join the debate, he suggested McCamley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A producer called to talk with McCamley, then invited him to take part.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">McCamley said the debate is timely because of the recent deliberations in Congress about immigration and border security, but particularly because President Bush just signed the border fence bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI think that we need more security, but that security should be in the form of personnel,\u201d McCamley said. \u201cI think a fence would be very ineffective. We have a fence now in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">El   Paso<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, and it isn\u2019t very effective. It\u2019s a waste of money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.buchanan.org\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">Buchanan<\/a>, who has run for president three times, recently came out with a book titled \u201cState of <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Emergency<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America.\u201d Simcox\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/minutemanhq.com\/b2\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">group<\/a> is in the process of building a small, private fence along a stretch of the border in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Arizona<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> and plans to construct many more to help stop illegal immigration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though he is young and relatively new to politics, McCamley has become a local powerhouse. He was elected chairman of the commission at his first meeting in 2005 and served for one year before the leadership position rotated to someone else.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gov. Bill Richardson has recognized McCamley as being instrumental in helping resolve a decades-old water battle that hampered growth in the southern part of the county, and in promoting the development of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportamerica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spaceport America<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner Bill McCamley will take part in a live, televised debate on immigration and border security Monday with three national figures who are at the forefront of discussions on this issue.
