So did Stephanie DuBois, the Democrat seeking to unseat District 2 Commissioner David King, a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">King was not in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Jones said <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> should lead the way in renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe need to make the commitment now to give something to our kids,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He also called for better regulation, saying \u201cwe need to level the playing field for the consumer against the big phone companies and big electric companies,\u201d and said he wants to make the PRC a \u201cplace where the sun shines an all deals we make for New Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Greer talked about all areas the PRC regulates, including insurance, phone and Internet lines, and fire safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Greer%2C%20Earl.5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Greer%2C%20Earl.4.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u201cWe touch your lives,\u201d he said. \u201cYou need somebody there, in my view, that will bring honesty and integrity, that will bring the district back to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">DuBois, the only publicly funded candidate on the ballot on Nov. 7, also called for more open practices at the PRC, which she said \u201cregulates everything from the time you get up to the time you go to bed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cGovernment works best when the sun shines in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Asked about the state\u2019s dispute with Qwest, Greer said the state can\u2019t place unreasonable expectations on companies, but companies must also live up to agreements they make.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And he called for improving infrastructure in rural areas to bring better phone and Internet service, whether it be cell phone towers or cables.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">DuBois called for better technology in rural areas, saying that will bring competition to Qwest. She called on the company to fulfill its agreement with the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Jones%2C%20Sandy.12.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Jones%2C%20Sandy.11.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Jones said the PRC must enter into better agreements, so there\u2019s no question after the fact about whether they will be enforced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">DuBois said her top two priorities are \u201cbringing some more ethics to the PRC\u201d and better telephone service in rural areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Jones said his top two priorities are \u201cgood constituent services\u201d and improving infrastructure. He said he\u2019ll try to obtain funding to create a PRC office somewhere in District 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Greer also talked about constituent services, and said he\u2019ll push for high-speed Internet access across the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re growing.
