Allen Weh<\/p><\/div>\n

Republican Gubernatorial candidate Allen Weh<\/a>, a decorated war veteran, has been endorsed by the national political action committee Iraq Veterans for Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Weh campaign issued a release stating that the political action committee supports \u201cveterans who are determined to become a voice for U.S. military veterans, their families, and hardworking patriotic Americans who believe that our country, our Constitution and our way of life are worth fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Allen Weh has proven himself through his selfless service to our country, protecting the rights that Americans enjoy today,” Patrick Mahoney, a spokesman for the group, said in the release. “We know that he will continue to defend and protect those same rights as the governor of New Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m honored to receive support from a group of great Americans who have dedicated their lives to serving our country,\u201d Weh said.<\/p>\n

During two tours of duty in Vietnam, Weh was award Three Purple Hearts.<\/p>\n

Prior to retiring in 1997, Weh was recalled to active duty during the Persian Gulf War, for the U.S. expedition into Somalia, and to serve as chief of staff of Marine Forces Pacific.<\/p>\n

In 2003, he was recalled from the retired list to serve in Iraq and given a\u00a0 leadership role with the creation and organization of the new Iraqi Army.<\/p>\n

Weh has also been awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with \u201cV\u201d\u00a0 and five Air Medals.\u00a0 He received the Legion of Merit and two Meritorious Service Medals.<\/p>\n

He retired as a colonel after 38 years of service.<\/p>\n

The Iraq Veterans group was formed in 2008 and claims to have helped elect two Iraq veterans to Congress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
