Fundraising by Republican incumbent <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> dwarfs that of Baca, the Democratic challenger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the newest poll, 42 percent supported Baca and 40 percent supported <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, with 18 percent undecided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Lyons%2C%20Pat.19.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Lyons%2C%20Pat.19.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In early October, a Journal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/498378nm10-04-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">poll<\/a> had Baca up four points. In August, another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/490009nm09-05-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">poll<\/a> had him up five points. The newest poll surveyed 800 registered voters and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This continues to be the hottest statewide race. Baca has a slight lead, but <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has more money to spend in the next two weeks. Look for this one to keep us up late on election night. If you haven\u2019t yet decided how you\u2019ll vote in this race, it\u2019s time to start paying attention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Wilson%2C%20Heather.6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Wilson%2C%20Heather.6.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>While we\u2019re on the subject of polls, another Journal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/504930nm10-22-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">poll<\/a> confirmed this weekend that Democratic challenger Patricia Madrid has pulled ahead of Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Congressional District race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The poll had <st1:state st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:state> with 45 percent of the vote and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> with 42, with nine percent undecided. The poll surveyed 503 registered voters between Oct. 17 and 19, and has a margin of error of 4.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Madrid%2C%20Patricia.16.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Madrid%2C%20Patricia.16.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The poll confirms the trend toward <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. Earlier this month, a Reuters\/Zogby <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zogby.com\/news\/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1176\" target=\"_blank\">poll<\/a> had <st1:state st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:state> up 50-40 percent, and a poll done by SurveyUSA and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kobtv.com\/snapshotskob\/html\/28344.html\" target=\"_blank\">KOB-TV<\/a> had <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> up 53-45 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A poll by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.majoritywatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">RT Strategies\/Cook Political Report<\/a> had <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> ahead 52-44 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The last <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/497895nm10-01-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">poll<\/a> by Brian Sanderoff, who did the newest poll for the Journal, had the candidates tied at 44 percent in September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new Albuquerque Journal poll confirms that Pat Lyons is gaining slightly on Jim Baca in the land commissioner race.
