Gov. Diane Denish (Photo by Heath Haussamen)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s been less than a week since 2010 candidates for state offices could begin collecting the signatures necessary to run, and Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dianedenish.com\/\">Diane Denish<\/a> is announcing that she\u2019s already collected three times the required number.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic gubernatorial candidate has collected more than 6,300 signatures, including signatures from every county in the state. The required number is 2,163.<\/p>\n<p>A news release from her campaign said the signatures reflect \u201cthe strong grassroots support\u201d Denish enjoys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am inspired by the optimism, enthusiasm and energy I feel across New Mexico,\u201d Denish said in the release. \u201c\u2026 The signatures we\u2019re collecting reflect the faith that New Mexicans from all regions of the state have in me, and likewise, my candidacy will reflect the faith that I have in them. Together, we\u2019ll win in November 2010 and then seize the opportunities ahead for our state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Almost 400 people have volunteered to help Denish gather signatures thus far.<\/p>\n<p>Denish doesn\u2019t currently have a primary challenger, but Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez says <a href=\"..\/2009\/09\/sanchez-no-final-decision-on-running-for-governor\/\">he\u2019s still thinking about running<\/a>. Though most doubt he will enter the race, Denish is trying to deter anyone from challenging her in a primary.<\/p>\n<p>Her news release said she \u201cplans to fully participate in the preprimary convention and the campaign will continue to mobilize its grassroots organization and collect more signatures until February.\u201d In the coming weeks, the campaign plans canvasses in several counties including Lea, Do\u00f1a Ana, Santa Fe and Bernalillo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been less than a week since 2010 candidates for state offices could begin collecting the signatures necessary to run, and Lt.
