Santa Fe County Commissioner Harry Montoya<\/a> sounded like an almost-candidate for state land commissioner when he sent me an e-mail earlier this month.<\/p>\n Apparently, the Democrat is now fully a candidate.<\/p>\n Montoya told The Santa Fe New Mexican\u2019s Steve Terrell that he is running, Terrell wrote on his blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not surprised,\u201d Terrell wrote. \u201cHe was introduced at the recent lieutenant governor candidate forum as a candidate, and he didn\u2019t put up any argument.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month<\/a>, Montoya confirmed in an e-mail to me his interest in the race, and said he\u2019s looking at making an announcement later this month or early in October. He didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment sent today.<\/p>\n Public Regulation Commission Chairman Sandy Jones<\/a> and former state Land Commissioner Ray Powell<\/a> have also entered the race, and former state Attorney General Patricia Madrid<\/a> has said she\u2019s thinking about running.<\/p>\n On the Republican side, GOP activist Bob Cornelius<\/a> and retired law-enforcement agent Errol Chavez<\/a> are running.<\/p>\n
