At 5:15 p.m., he will make the announcement again in Belen on the fourth floor of the Wells Fargo building located at <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=101+S.+Main+Street,+belen,+nm&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=46.27475,62.578125&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=A\">101 S. Main Street<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was born and raised in New Mexico and have never lived anywhere else,\u201d Jones said in a news release. \u201cI am a farmer, businessman, husband, father and now a regulator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy love of the land and my hopes for the future of our children have led me to run for commissioner of public lands,\u201d he said. \u201cMy unique combination of experiences, expertise and understanding of issues on all sides will allow me to serve our state well. Protecting our state lands and securing our children\u2019s future is my goal and my focus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones first <a href=\"..\/2009\/09\/jones-will-run-for-land-commissioner-not-re-election\/\">confirmed Tuesday evening<\/a> that he\u2019ll run for land commissioner next year instead of seeking re-election to the PRC.<\/p>\n<p>The only other declared Democratic candidate for land commissioner is <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/former-land-commissioner-powell-will.html\">Ray Powell<\/a>, held the job from 1993 to 2002. In addition, former state Attorney General <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patricia_Madrid\" target=\"_blank\">Patricia Madrid<\/a> and Santa Fe County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafecounty.org\/about_us\/harry_montoya.php\">Harry Montoya<\/a> both say they\u2019re considering running.<\/p>\n<p>On the Republicans side, GOP activist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imbackingbob.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bob Cornelius<\/a> and retired law-enforcement agent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.erroljchavez.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Errol Chavez<\/a> are running.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re all battling to replace the GOP\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmstatelands.org\/default.aspx?PageID=2\" target=\"_blank\">Pat Lyons<\/a>, the current land commissioner who is term limited from seeking re-election.<\/p>\n<p>Former Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/billmccamley.com\/\">Bill McCamley<\/a> is the only person who has said publicly that he\u2019s <a href=\"..\/2009\/09\/mccamley-is-%E2%80%98heavily-considering%E2%80%99-running-for-prc\/\">seriously considering running<\/a> for Jones\u2019 seat on the PRC.<\/p>\n<p><em>As I\u2019ve disclosed in the past, I\u2019m friends with McCamley.
