Bill Richardson appointed Democrat Lisa Schultz today to fill the district judge vacancy created by the recent death of Silvia Cano-Garcia.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> was already coming to <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> Thursday for a 1 p.m. swearing-in of newly appointed District Judge Fernando Macias. Schultz, who had already been in the process of closing her law practice, will be sworn in at the same ceremony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Macias%2C%20Fernando.7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Macias%2C%20Fernando.6.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The two are the new children\u2019s court judges, but are in fights to keep their jobs past the end of 2006. Schultz is facing Republican Janetta Hicks on Nov. 7, and Macias is facing Republican Rita Nu\u00f1ez Neumann on that day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Schultz\u2019s appointment comes a day after a judicial nomination commission recommended her name to the governor.
