An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a> poll done in August had <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> ahead by three points. The Journal\u2019s new poll will be released Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Madrid%2C%20Patricia.11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Madrid%2C%20Patricia.11.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehill.com\/thehill\/export\/TheHill\/News\/Campaign\/092606_kaplan.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Hill<\/a> reports this week that this is one of the most hotly contested House races in the nation \u2013 and perhaps the hottest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gov. Bill Richardson knows it. He told the national press this week that <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> will win, and took credit, saying his operation, coupled with anti-Republican sentiment, will carry her to victory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">If he can get away with taking credit for such a victory, it will further increase his stature in advance of a 2008 presidential run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The district was created in 1968 and has never been in Democratic hands, Monahan reports. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you aren\u2019t paying attention to the Central New Mexico congressional race between Republican incumbent Heather Wilson and Democratic challenger Patricia Madrid, you should be.
