Bill Richardson\u2019s 2008 presidential run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> says that\u2019s not the case but, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/496514nm09-27-06.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a>, the South Carolina Democratic Party says otherwise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That state party\u2019s spokesman, Patrick Norton, told the Journal that Roberts\u2019 presence \u201chelps us this election cycle \u2013 and it helps the presidential candidate in 2008.\u201d He said it would be valuable for potential presidential contenders to have someone who \u201cknows the lay of the land\u201d in that state. South Carolina became more important in presidential elections when the Democrats\u2019 national party voted last month to move up the date of the state\u2019s presidential primary, which will be held a week after New Hampshire\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Norton told the Journal he understood that Roberts was in the state at the request of <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>\u2019s campaign manager, Amanda Cooper, didn\u2019t give a yes or no answer but gave the same answer she\u2019ll give until at least after Nov. 7:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe governor has not made any decision as to whether he is going to do that or not,\u201d Cooper told the Journal about a possible presidential run. \u201cThe governor is running for re-election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Journal reported that it could not reach Roberts for comment. I could not either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cooper told the Journal that South Carolina Democrats asked <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> if he knew anyone who could handle communications for the campaign of the Democratic candidate for governor. When Roberts told <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s campaign two weeks ago that she wanted to get back into political work, she had the job.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sources tell me Roberts really is going to <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">South Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> to help Democrats there win races.
