(<a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/4.0\/\" target=\"_blank\">Photo cc info<\/a>)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Think New Mexico is more transparent than most nonprofits, Associate Director\u00a0Kristina Fisher pointed out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10100838717096501\" target=\"_blank\">on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe that our tax-exempt status is a privilege and that we have a responsibility to the public to be transparent about our finances and our supporters,&#8221; Fisher wrote.<\/p>\n<p>She said Think New Mexico has always disclosed almost all its donors. She said only 18 of 1,051 this year requested anonymity &#8220;so they will not be solicited by other groups.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/06\/nm-nonprofits-disclose-your-donors-get-recognition\/\" target=\"_blank\">last week<\/a> for nonprofits that\u00a0work to influence public policy and politics in New Mexico to voluntarily release donor lists. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015\/06\/transparency-pushing-nonprofit-discloses-donors\/\" target=\"_blank\">Common Cause New Mexico<\/a> has already done it.<\/p>\n<p>As for Think New Mexico,\u00a0Fisher sent links to the organization&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinknewmexico.org\/transparency.html\" target=\"_blank\">webpage on transparency<\/a>, which includes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinknewmexico.org\/annreps.html\" target=\"_blank\">annual reports<\/a> that lists donors for each year, and to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinknewmexico.org\/pdfs\/RioGrandeSunEditorial.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">a 2002 editorial<\/a> in which the Rio Grande Sun praised the nonprofit&#8217;s transparency.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The politicians in Santa Fe spending your money should step lightly around these Think New Mexico folks,&#8221; that editorial states. &#8220;They&#8217;re organized, serious, relentless and worst of all &#8212; above board.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NMPolitics.net, a small business, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2015-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\">discloses<\/a>\u00a0the names\u00a0of all donors and their donation amounts.
