The 10-state challenge to DACA, Trump said, \u201cis going to be very successful. I hope it\u2019s going to be very successful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Paxton, one of two attorneys general at the meeting of about a dozen state and federal officials, smiled from the other end of the table.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At the end of the meeting, after Paxton gave a few comments about criminal justice reform efforts in Texas, Trump cut in again to inquire about the lawsuit\u2019s status.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We had a hearing yesterday, and I think it went quite well,&#8221; Paxton told the president. &#8220;We&#8217;ll see what the judge says, but we&#8217;re right on the law and right on the Constitution. I&#8217;m confident that things are going to go the right way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It&#8217;s true,&#8221; Trump replied.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Trump\u2019s Department of Justice has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2018\/06\/09\/us-doj-wont-fight-texas-efforts-end-daca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declined to defend DACA<\/a> from the Texas-led coalition asking a federal judge to declare it unconstitutional. But the president himself has vacillated somewhat on the issue, saying that the some 800,000 DACA recipients are in the country \u201cthrough no fault of their own.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Legal experts say if U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen enjoins DACA, as Texas asked him to at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2018\/08\/08\/judge-hears-texas-challenge-daca-houston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a hearing in Houston on Wednesday<\/a>, the case is likely to land quickly at the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Paxton, along with U.S. Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/directory\/michael-mccaul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael McCaul<\/a>, R-Austin, also attended a Trump roundtable in March.
