(Photo by Heath Haussamen)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=SSANC\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Sanchez<\/a>, D-Belen, has decided not to run for governor next year, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez has not announced that decision publicly or returned a call seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>His decision leaves Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dianedenish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Denish<\/a> as the only Democrat in the race and, unless another enters the race, allows her to save the approximately $2 million she has on hand and continue to build up her war chest while Republicans duke it out in a primary.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican field is crowded. Do\u00f1a Ana County District Attorney <a href=\"http:\/\/susanamartinez2010.com\/\">Susana Martinez<\/a> and state Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/janiceforgovernor.com\/\">Janice Arnold-Jones<\/a> have entered the race.
