He wanted to address a couple of recent issues.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">First, Galvan said he wanted to make clear that he does not live with suspended Magistrate Judge <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen6.blogspot.com\/2006\/08\/magistrate-judge-carlos-garza.html\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Garza<\/a>. <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> Police Capt. Richard Williams wrote in a police report that, when he attempted to deliver an order last month that Garza submit to a drug test, the door to Garza\u2019s home was answered by Galvan, who said \u201cthat Judge Garza does live at that residence with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI do not live there,\u201d Galvan told me. \u201cI was just there to feed his dog because he was going out of town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In addition, a woman who accused Galvan of rape and bribery in 2004 filed a lawsuit against him last month. The allegations ended Galvan\u2019s judicial career but, after two criminal trials ended with hung juries, prosecutors dropped the charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Galvan\u2019s attorney claimed during both trials that his accuser would later sue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt\u2019s all about the money,\u201d Galvan told me. \u201cIt\u2019s always been about the money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In court, Galvan has officially denied the allegations contained in the lawsuit and claims, as he did in the criminal proceedings, that the sex with his accuser was consensual. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I ran into former Magistrate Judge Reuben Galvan last night at the Democratic Party\u2019s meeting.
