But that\u2019s a different Jose Campos, Rep. Campos said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis name\u00a0is listed as a host for a function\u00a0and some are thinking that I\u2019ve dropped out of the race to support Col\u00f3n,\u201d Rep. Campos wrote in a Tuesday evening e-mail. \u201cThat could not be further from the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, I\u2019m dedicating myself full time to the campaign and feel I\u2019m gaining momentum,\u201d Rep. Campos wrote. \u201cI\u2019ve been\u00a0crisscrossing the state meeting with mayors, city councilors, democratic chairpersons, and other supporters.\u00a0After I visited with you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/08\/campos-says-his-%e2%80%98train%e2%80%99s-not-going-to-stop%e2%80%99\/\">last week<\/a> I went on to Deming and Silver City. Since then I\u2019ve spent time in Socorro, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Pecos, Santa Fe, Espanola and Taos. Tonight I\u2019m in Albuquerque and tomorrow I will be in Grants.\u00a0 The race is on!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The race is on, and crowded. In addition to Campos and Col\u00f3n, the others who have entered the race are Santa Fe County Sheriff <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solanoltgov.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Solano<\/a>, state Sens. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=SLOPE\" target=\"_blank\">Linda Lopez<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/LCS\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=SORTI\" target=\"_blank\">Gerald Ortiz y Pino<\/a> of Albuquerque and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrcog-nm.gov\/content\/view\/233\/269\/\">Lawrence Rael<\/a>, executive director of the Mid-Region Council of Governments.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracyfornewmexico.com\/democracy_for_new_mexico\/2009\/07\/matthew-padilla-pondering-run-for-new-mexico-lt-governor.html\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew Padilla<\/a>, a law student and former U.S. Navy officer, and Espa\u00f1ola Mayor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofespanola.org\/mayor-biography.html\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Maestas<\/a> say they are considering running.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Rep.
