Carter Bundy<\/p><\/div>\n

NMPolitics.net columnist Carter Bundy<\/a> will take part in a debate on health-care reform next week that is being hosted by the Rio Grande Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bundy, who is the political and legislative director for AFSCME<\/a> in New Mexico, will be debating Michael Cannon<\/a>, the Cato Institute\u2019s director of health policy studies, according to a news release<\/a> from the libertarian-leaning Rio Grande Foundation.<\/p>\n

The foundation\u2019s president, Paul Gessing, pledged to \u201cprovide a respectful and fair forum.\u201d<\/p>\n

The debate will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Albuquerque Museum, 2000 Mountain Road NW<\/a> in Albuquerque. Cost to attend the event is $10, payable by cash or check at the door. RSVP to rsvp@riograndefoundation.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The foundation\u2019s news release states that Cannon and Bundy \u201cwill discuss the current state of the health care debate in Washington, explain how it impacts New Mexicans, and offer thoughts on recent legislative changes and reforms (they) would like to see Congress make.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cannon, the release states, has recently been in heavy rotation as a guest on television and radio talk shows and has worked closely with Rep. John Shadegg<\/a>, R-Ariz., on free-market health care legislation that would weaken the grip health insurance companies have over customers in particular states.<\/p>\n

Bundy, the release states, \u201chas written and spoken extensively on health care issues on a variety of New Mexico media outlets, most prominently at the website\u00a0www.NMPolitics.net<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
