A\u00a0news organization\u00a0that was once called\u00a0one of the best<\/a> state-based political blogs in the nation will relaunch Monday with a focus\u00a0on doing\u00a0journalism that fosters conversation<\/a>\u00a0and builds community<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NMPolitics.net\u00a0is\u00a0devoted to the same nonpartisan, hard-hitting, fair exploration of politics and government that you were used to before it shut down in 2012<\/a>. In our new incarnation we’ll focus not only on informing, but also on engaging in a way that helps people become active participants in the conversation about our society.<\/p>\n

In these polarized\u00a0times, NMPolitics.net will operate\u00a0from\u00a0a belief that\u00a0the best way forward is together<\/a> \u2013 that we must do the hard work of listening and understanding each other so we can find solutions that work for as many people as possible.\u00a0We view journalism as activism<\/a> in the purest sense of the word: We should help all people become active participants in our society.<\/p>\n

NMPolitics.net isn’t\u00a0here to push people to advocate for a specific position on any policy. Instead, we try\u00a0to\u00a0help people from across the political and ideological spectrums be involved in the debate.<\/p>\n

Through discussions\u00a0on social media, our website, and beyond, and by involving New Mexicans and others\u00a0in our reporting and commentary, NMPolitics.net seeks\u00a0to give all people an entry point into the conversation about our society, challenge you\u00a0to be involved, and value your\u00a0participation.<\/p>\n

We will question\u00a0power and promote\u00a0government transparency to help people have greater access to and influence over the system. We will hold ourselves to the same standard by disclosing our donors<\/a>\u00a0and giving you a voice in our journalism.<\/p>\n

At NMPolitics.net, we\u00a0choose to believe we can change a\u00a0system that is the cause\u00a0of so\u00a0much cynicism if we come together. We choose hope<\/a>.<\/p>\n
