Bill Richardson was ranked as one of the 10 most popular governors in the nation, according to the latest Survey <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:country-region st=\"on\">USA<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surveyusa.com\/50State2006\/50StateGovernor060822Approval.htm\" target=\"_blank\">job-approval poll<\/a> released Tuesday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The poll, conducted Aug. 11-13, finds a 65 percent approval rating in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> for Democrat Richardson. That ties him for ninth place on the list with Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman, a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am pleased that a strong majority of New Mexicans approve of the direction we are taking the state,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said in a news release. \u201c<st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state> continues to show strong economic growth across the board, which is enabling us to push for additional tax cuts for working <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> families, increase access to quality health care and invest in students in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise. We already know <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is popular at home, which is why most don\u2019t expect his challenger in this year\u2019s election, John Dendahl, to have a shot at victory. Political blogger Joe Monahan had some suggestions today for the Dendahl campaign that you can read by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joemonahan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is in the top 20 percent of governors in the nation as far as popularity in his home state is a no-brainer. He\u2019s the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, after all. He\u2019s clearly one of the leading governors in the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Survey USA Poll surveyed 600 adults in all 50 states; margin of error was +\/- 4 percent. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Mexico Gov.
