\u2022 A six-part series examining Spaceport America’s future<\/a>. A decade after the state and voters in Do\u00f1a Ana and Sierra counties approved public funding to build the facility, we took a comprehensive look at its economic impact, transparency problems and other aspects of the project. We asked the state attorney general to investigate<\/a> the transparency issues we discovered.<\/p>\n \u2022 We joined the State of Change project, a collaboration among several New Mexico new organizations supported by\u00a0High Country News\u00a0and the\u00a0Solutions Journalism Network. The news organizations\u00a0examined the challenge of building resilient rural communities in New Mexico \u2014 and what some are doing right. We contributed an in-depth article<\/a> on efforts to build a stronger economy in downtown Truth or Consequences and published the entire series<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2022 This week, we are publishing a project we’ve been working on all year with the Las Cruces Sun-News and KWRG News: an investigation of\u00a0southern New Mexico\u2019s struggling behavioral health system that also explores solutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n Digging deeper than the daily news is essential to\u00a0improving our state, which is why I’m passionate about in-depth journalism. But this work requires a great deal of time and other resources.
