{"id":4705,"date":"2009-07-02T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-02T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/07\/wilson-to-do-political-elections-training-in-africa\/"},"modified":"2009-07-02T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-02T17:00:00","slug":"wilson-to-do-political-elections-training-in-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/07\/wilson-to-do-political-elections-training-in-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Wilson to do political, elections training in Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SkxSvzTdpGI\/AAAAAAAAL3k\/4p3z3ZMxAL8\/s1600-h\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 120px; height: 160px;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SkxSvzTdpGI\/AAAAAAAAL3k\/4p3z3ZMxAL8\/s200\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353745038215849058\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Former U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heather_Wilson\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> is traveling to Africa today to \u201cengage with government ministers and teach candidates and parliamentary staff about communications, constituent service and running elections,\u201d according to a note posted on her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/home.php?filter=nf#\/profile.php?id=1798367465&amp;v=wall&amp;viewas=49008788\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wilson, a potential 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate, gave the details to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/abqnews\/inside-the-beltway-mainmenu-40\/13559-heather-wilson-headed-to-sudan-talks-2010-guv-race.html\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWhile in Sudan, I will be meeting with the Speaker of the Southern Sudan Parliament, conducting training and consultations with their legislators who are involved national security and international affairs matters, training the staffs of legislators on constituent service and communications, and speaking at a women\u2019s leadership conference sponsored by the UN Mission in Sudan and the US Agency for International Development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI will also be meeting with the leaders of all of the political parties in Southern Sudan about preparations for elections in 2010 and making sure that election is legitimate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIn Kenya, I will be meeting with the Minister of State for Defense and members of the Kenyan Parliament involved in national security matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wilson was invited to make the trip by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iri.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Republican Institute<\/a>, which is paying for the trip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The former Republican House member, who told me last week that she <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/home.php?ref=home#\/haussamen?v=feed&amp;story_fbid=114187193763&amp;ref=mf\" target=\"_blank\">hasn\u2019t decided<\/a> whether she\u2019ll run for governor next year, also talked with the Journal about the 2010 race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt\u2019s a scandal a day out here, and somebody\u2019s got to clean up this mess,\u201d the Journal quoted Wilson as saying. \u201cIf the Democrats are telling you the Republicans are in disarray, they must be looking in the mirror.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">While Wilson has said she\u2019s seriously considering the gubernatorial race, the Journal quoted her as saying that she\u2019s enjoying life as a private citizen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former U.S. Rep.
