{"id":4653,"date":"2009-06-15T22:57:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-16T04:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/06\/dont-political-signs-have-to-come-down-sometime\/"},"modified":"2009-06-15T22:57:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-16T04:57:00","slug":"dont-political-signs-have-to-come-down-sometime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/06\/dont-political-signs-have-to-come-down-sometime\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t political signs have to come down sometime?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">While driving to Albuquerque and back to Las Cruces on Interstate 25 today, two signs caught my attention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The first, near mile marker 71 just south of Truth or Consequences, is a 4&#215;8 foot sign from U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/teague.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Teague\u2019s<\/a> successful campaign for the 2nd Congressional District seat last year. <span style=\"\"> <\/span>The Democrat\u2019s sign is prominently displayed just off the highway facing the northbound lanes. It\u2019s in the middle of nowhere, so it\u2019s hard to miss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The second, a large billboard, has been up for years. It\u2019s a sign for former U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_Pearce\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a>, a Republican who held the seat before Teague. <span style=\"\"> <\/span>It\u2019s facing the southbound lanes at mile marker 147 just south of Socorro. It\u2019s one of those \u201cOur Congressman, Our Values\u201d signs, so it long preceded Pearce\u2019s failed run for U.S. Senate last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019ve seen both signs several times, but on today\u2019s drive, I had this thought: Aren\u2019t these campaign signs supposed to be taken down at some point?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Just asking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While driving to Albuquerque and back to Las Cruces on Interstate 25 today, two signs caught my attention.
