{"id":4515,"date":"2009-04-30T13:57:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-30T19:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/04\/swine-flu-didn%e2%80%99t-cause-las-cruces-boys-death\/"},"modified":"2009-04-30T13:57:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-30T19:57:00","slug":"swine-flu-didn%e2%80%99t-cause-las-cruces-boys-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/04\/swine-flu-didn%e2%80%99t-cause-las-cruces-boys-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Swine flu didn\u2019t cause Las Cruces boy&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Office of the Medical Investigator has ruled out <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Swine_influenza\" target=\"_blank\">swine flu<\/a> as the cause of the Tuesday death of a 6-year-old Las Cruces boy, Do\u00f1a Ana County announced this afternoon in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The news release states that, despite initial media reports, \u201cinvestigators say the boy never exhibited flu-like symptoms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cDue to federal privacy laws regarding patient medical information, and out of respect for the grieving family, no further information will be released,\u201d the county\u2019s news release states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/test-will-determine-if-swine-flu-caused.html\">Las Cruces Sun-News<\/a> reported on Wednesday that tests would determine whether swine flu caused the boy\u2019s death. The newspaper, quoting an official with the sheriff\u2019s department, said the boy was sent home from school with a fever on Tuesday and died at about 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">After that article was published on the newspaper\u2019s Web site, County Manager Brian Haines released <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/zero-evidence-that-swine-flu-caused.html\">a statement<\/a> indicating that there was \u201czero evidence\u201d that swine flu caused the boy\u2019s death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of the Medical Investigator has ruled out swine flu as the cause of the Tuesday death of a 6-year-old Las Cruces boy, Do\u00f1a Ana County announced this afternoon in a news release.
