{"id":4437,"date":"2009-04-05T22:57:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-06T04:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/04\/new-pac-aims-to-repeal-death-penalty-repeal\/"},"modified":"2009-04-05T22:57:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-06T04:57:00","slug":"new-pac-aims-to-repeal-death-penalty-repeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/04\/new-pac-aims-to-repeal-death-penalty-repeal\/","title":{"rendered":"New PAC aims to repeal death-penalty repeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Bernalillo County Sheriff <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bernco.gov\/live\/departments.asp?dept=2318\" target=\"_blank\">Darren White<\/a> has formed a political action committee aimed at repealing the death-penalty repeal recently <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/guvs-remarks-on-repealing-death-penalty.html\">signed into law<\/a> by Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a>, and the PAC\u2019s first TV ad is running statewide beginning Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s the ad:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/inAdL0GSmMM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/inAdL0GSmMM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The aim of Repeal the Repeal PAC, White wrote in a note on the group\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/repealtherepeal.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a>, is \u201creinstating the death penalty in New Mexico for the most heinous crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">To accomplish that, it plans to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2022 \u201caggressively combat the misinformation campaign waged by the radical opponents of the death penalty and educate the public on the issue and the circumstances surrounding its repeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2022 \u201cbegin a petition drive in order to give voters the opportunity to \u2018repeal the repeal\u2019 of the death penalty at the ballot box, pursuant to the New Mexico Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2022 \u201curge voters to support candidates for the legislature and state office who will vote to reinstate the death penalty in New Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White has formed a political action committee aimed at repealing the death-penalty repeal recently signed into law by Gov.
