Feldman requested earlier today that Cervantes\u2019 bill be heard instead of hers because Cervantes\u2019 has already passed the House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/ScL8jmqlSDI\/AAAAAAAALNg\/3L9tdhILCoQ\/s1600-h\/2009Legislature.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 150px;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/ScL8jmqlSDI\/AAAAAAAALNg\/3L9tdhILCoQ\/s200\/2009Legislature.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5315088198855378994\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Interestingly, it\u2019s Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=SLOPE\" target=\"_blank\">Linda Lopez<\/a>, D-Albuquerque and chair of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/committeedisplay.aspx?CommitteeCode=SRC\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Rules Committee<\/a>, who will present Cervantes\u2019 bill tonight, rather than Feldman. That must have been done at the request of Cervantes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When the conference committee proposal came before the Senate twice in 2007, it was defeated each time by one vote. Lopez missed one of those votes and, the second time, voted against the bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Lopez has been accused this year by the governor, activists and some in the media of stonewalling ethics reform. In fact, the proposal to open conference committees languished for most of the session in her committee without being scheduled for a hearing until <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/committee-oks-conference-committee-bill.html\">an unusual procedural move<\/a> by Feldman forced action on the bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Senate is meeting now.
