The report said former U.S. Ambassador to Korea <a href=\"http:\/\/fletcher.tufts.edu\/faculty\/bosworth\/profile.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Bosworth<\/a> was also under consideration for the job.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A Richardson spokesman said at the time that the report was false. Pahl Shipley said Richardson was \u201cnot interested\u201d in the job and had not \u201cdiscussed it with anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ultimately, it was Bosworth who Clinton tapped for the position earlier today, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20090220\/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe\/as_clinton_koreas\" target=\"_blank\">The Associated Press<\/a> is reporting. Bosworth, according to the article, will be tasked with working with South Korea, Japan, China and others \u201cto look at ways to get Pyongyang back to the negotiating table and deal with broader policy,\u201d and will also \u201cdeal with North Korean human rights and humanitarian issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richardson, who has a long and good relationship with the North Korean government, had his commerce secretary nomination derailed last month by a <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/grand-jury-probes-richardson-donors.html\">federal grand jury investigation<\/a> into allegations of pay to play in the Richardson administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has named a special envoy to North Korea, and it isn\u2019t Gov.
