If he does, he said, he\u2019ll benefit from being an actor because people will want to meet him. But, the news service\u2019s Deborah Baker quoted Kilmer as saying, he isn\u2019t thinking about running because of his fame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019m just looking for ways to be contributive,\u201d the news service quoted him as saying, \u201cand if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I\u2019ll run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kilmer said he\u2019s not a politician and isn\u2019t \u201cgoing to try to become one,\u201d adding that he has \u201cno interest in being governor of New Mexico for\u2026 fame and power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s not the first time the actor, who lives on a ranch near Pecos, has sounded so confident about his chances if he jumps into the 2010 gubernatorial race. He was quoted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/kilmer-sounds-confident-about-2010.html\">Boston Globe<\/a> last month as saying that a lot of actors become politicians, \u201cand they always win, so I guess we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though Kilmer has been openly talking to the national media for months about considering the gubernatorial race, this week is the first that he\u2019s been politicking in New Mexico.
