Foundation for Open Government<\/a> plans to meet with Pat Rogers to discuss his membership on the group\u2019s board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in the process of scheduling a meeting with Pat to discuss the issue,\u201d FOG Executive Director Gwyneth Doland (a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/author\/gwyneth-doland\/\" target=\"_blank\">former NMPolitics.net reporter<\/a>) told me today. \u201cPat has asked to be screened from internal NMFOG communications until we meet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rogers is one of 24 members of FOG\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/nmfog.org\/Board_Members.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">board of directors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I recently argued in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2012\/07\/lawyers-tenure-on-sunshine-group-board-needs-to-end\/\" target=\"_blank\">a commentary<\/a> that, for the sake of FOG\u2019s integrity, Rogers\u2019 tenure on the board must end. That\u2019s because, I wrote, his recent actions \u201chelped create the appearance that the Martinez administration\u2019s controversial contract with the Downs at Albuquerque was an insider deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From that column:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is what the Downs deal looks like: A company that gave lots of money to Republican Gov.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Susana Martinez\u2019s<\/a>\u00a02010 campaign won a state contract after hiring a GOP insider (Rogers) who was communicating privately about the contract, before it was awarded, with people close to Martinez.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coverage of Rogers\u2019 interaction with people close to Martinez has continued. Today, the Santa Fe Reporter published two articles that you can read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfreporter.com\/santafe\/article-6838-a-higher-power.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfreporter.com\/santafe\/blog-3649-pat-rogers-the-jokester.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rogers, as I wrote in my column, \u201c\u00a0is an excellent sunshine lawyer who is a past president of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nmfog.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">N.M. Foundation for Open Government<\/a>\u00a0(FOG), a current board member, and a 2004 recipient of the organization\u2019s Dixon Award for fighting for open government.\u201d He\u2019s also the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gopnm.com\/Officers.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Republican National committeeman<\/a>\u00a0for New Mexico and a former general counsel for the state GOP.<\/p>\n<p>For disclosure, this site is an <a href=\"http:\/\/nmfog.org\/Our_Supporters.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">annual donor<\/a> to FOG.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The N.M.
