Cliff Pirtle<\/a>\u00a0has defeated Chad Hamill<\/a>\u00a0in the GOP primary and won the right to take on Senate President Pro Tem Tim Jennings<\/a> in November, Capitol Report New Mexico is reporting<\/a>.<\/p>\n From the article:<\/p>\n \u201cThe county clerks in Otero, Chaves and Eddy counties are putting together the paperwork on their respective recounts and sending them off to the Secretary of State\u2019s Office and on July 9,\u00a0Secretary of State Dianna Duran\u00a0<\/a>and the\u00a0State Canvassing Board\u00a0<\/a>will certify the results.<\/p>\n \u201cCapitol Report New Mexico called the three county clerks, who told us that there were no changes in the vote totals in Chaves and Otero counties while the recount in Eddy County showed \u2018a one vote difference for Pirtle,\u2019\u00a0Eddy County Clerk Darlene Rosprim\u00a0<\/a>said.<\/p>\n \u201cBy our account, that means the 26-year-old Pirtle defeated Hamill, the fire chief of Roswell, by a final count of 1,019-1,009.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n That leaves one race still up in the air. In June, Maxine Velasquez<\/a>\u00a0finished Election Day with a lead of three votes over\u00a0Clemente Sanchez<\/a>\u00a0in the state Senate District 30 Democratic primary race, 1,221 to 1,218, but a recount is still underway.
