It\u2019s going to be about the governor\u2019s national stature and potential 2008 presidential run. That will include out-of-state travel.<\/span>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gov. Bill Richardson\u2019s visit to <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> last week earned his potential presidential bid praise from liberal bloggers there, though some of it was a bit reserved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richardson, who was in town to promote a congressional candidate, met with a group of about 15 liberal bloggers in that state during his visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\">\u201cSounds like a progressive agenda to me. Hearing the governor speak about these initiatives, to me, is like hearing JFK talk about landing a man on the moon,\u201d wrote one <a href=\"http:\/\/wa4richardson.blogspot.com\/2006\/07\/another-recap-br-visit-with-wa.html\" target=\"_blank\">blogger<\/a>, whose site is designed to promote Richardson\u2019s potential bid for the White House. \u201cGovernor Richardson is clearly committed to moving our country into the next century and beyond. He has clear ideas of where we need to go and how we need to get there, and he has the experience to make it happen. It\u2019s time to get behind <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> and move our country forward.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\">Since <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> is larger than life here, New Mexicans are sometimes out of touch with the national perspective on our presidential-aspiring governor. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to keep an eye on what others are saying.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\">\u201c\u2026 I have to say, he\u2019ll make an impressive presidential candidate should he choose to run in \u201908,\u201d wrote <a href=\"http:\/\/liberalgirlnextdoor.blogspot.com\/2006\/07\/im-not-ready-to-settle-i-still-want-it.html\" target=\"_blank\">The (liberal) Girl Next Door<\/a>. \u201cI can\u2019t say that I\u2019m a supporter, but I did like what he had to say about immigration, the minimum wage and energy policy, particularly how it relates to foreign policy and national security.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\">But, she wrote, \u201cOf all the candidates that the pundits are espousing as \u2018frontrunners\u2019 for the Democrats in \u201808, I\u2019d have to say that Bill Richardson is one of my top choices, but I\u2019m still holding out for the real liberals to make a splash. As good as Governor Richardson is on renewable energy, a real liberal (like Russ Feingold) is guaranteed to be better. I\u2019m still not willing to give up on the idea that what this country needs now, more than ever, is some good old-fashioned liberal policy to get us back on the right track. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> would be fine, but we could get someone great.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\" lang=\"EN\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mccranium.org\/?p=257\" target=\"_blank\">McCranium.org<\/a> ended a posting about <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> this way:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWill Bill Richardson make a run for president? Probably so. He, as most of the possible runners do, was non-committal. <span style=\"\">But he does define himself well. He calls himself a \u2018New Progressive.\u2019 \u2026<\/span> Let\u2019s just hope he keeps his seat in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> for now.
