It also brings his salary in line with that of the Bernalillo and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">San Juan<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> county managers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Most commissioners credit Haines with working tirelessly to clean up county government after the 2004 special audit revealed widespread problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Haines joined the county in May 2001 as an audit control analyst. He was made finance director in January 2002, and became interim county manager in April 2003.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Following a nationwide search, he was hired as county manager.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-style: italic;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">A prior version of this posting incorrectly stated that Haines\u2019 new contract runs through 2010.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Do\u00f1a Ana County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to give Manager Brian Haines an 18 percent pay increase and a new 3-year contract.
