The governor\u2019s apparent appointment to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.change.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama\u2019s<\/a> secretary of commerce means Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltgovernor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Denish<\/a> will become governor sometime in the coming weeks or months and will have the ability to choose her own cabinet secretaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Regardless, Richardson said in a news release that Gir\u00f3n has extensive experience and a thorough understanding of transportation issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cGary understands the need to be bold and pursue every opportunity to build a safe and modern transportation system,\u201d Richardson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gir\u00f3n has served in various management roles during Richardson\u2019s tenure. He has held his current job since 2006. Before that, he was deputy director of the state Personnel Office and a deputy secretary in the Department of Health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
