The Associated Press, citing \u201ca Democratic official,\u201d said Obama will announce Richardson\u2019s appointment after Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cRichardson wanted to be secretary of State, but Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Rodham Clinton<\/a> (D-N.Y.) is scheduled to be tapped for that job after Thanksgiving,\u201d The Politico\u2019s article states. \u201cSo the Commerce job is something of a consolation prize for Richardson, who ran for president during the Democratic primaries and comes equipped with one of the best r\u00e9sum\u00e9s in Democratic politics, albeit one weighted down by a reputation for being a headline-seeker and independent operator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The new reports come after conflicting reports on Friday about whether Richardson would be commerce secretary. After <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/11\/reports-guv-to-be-named-commerce.html\">NBC News and FOX News<\/a> reported Friday that Obama would publicly introduce Richardson as his choice to head the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commerce.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Commerce Department<\/a> on Monday, <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/11\/cnn-richardson-appointment-not-done.html\">CNN<\/a> reported that Richardson was a \u201cserious contender\u201d for the job, but his selection was not a done deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Speculation among sources I\u2019ve spoken with today is that Richardson emerged as Obama\u2019s choice on Friday subject to final vetting, which concluded on Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
