Rudy Giuliani<\/a> asked an enthusiastic crowd of about 200 people today at a rally in Mesilla to prove the polls wrong and elect John McCain<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

In a speech full of shots at Barack Obama<\/a>, Joe Biden<\/a>, Bill Richardson<\/a> and the media, the former GOP presidential candidate and New York mayor said the polls have been wrong before.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cYou gotta go get them,\u201d Giuliani told those in attendance in urging them to find friends and family members to take to vote on Tuesday. \u201c\u2026 New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> is so important to winning this election, and we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Giuliani\u2019s was the latest in a series of high-profile visits to New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> as McCain makes a play for the swing state. McCain is trailing in most polls here and across the nation, but his campaign insists he can prevail in New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>, and it\u2019s trying to win over conservative Democrats and others who may still be undecided. Two weekends ago, Sarah Palin<\/a> was in Roswell<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. Last weekend, McCain was in Albuquerque and Mesilla. In addition to Giuliani\u2019s visit, Mitt Romney<\/a> was in Farmington<\/st1:city> and Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> today. McCain will be in Roswell<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> on Monday.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Speaking on a small, outdoor stage at a park in Mesilla, Giuliani seized on Biden\u2019s recent statement that Obama would face an international crisis in his first six months in office \u201cto test the mettle of this guy.\u201d<\/a> Giuliani said McCain has spent a lifetime proving that he\u2019s tough.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cNobody tested Ronald Reagan<\/a>. Nobody tested Dwight Eisenhower<\/a>. And, you know, nobody\u2019s going to test John McCain,\u201d Giuliani said. \u201c\u2026 We have someone ready to be in the White House. We have someone who\u2019s proven that he can handle crisis. John McCain spent more time in the Hanoi Hilton<\/a> than Barack Obama has spent in the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Giuliani also used a Friday statement by Richardson<\/a> to attack Obama on taxes. Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said Obama would give a tax cut to those making $120,000 and under. Obama has most often said his tax cut would apply to those making less than $200,000, but once said it would apply to those making less than $150,000. Biden also confused the issue by using the $150,000 number.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll tell you why they can\u2019t get their stories straight — because they\u2019re not telling the truth,\u201d said Giuliani, who pointed out that he\u2019s a former prosecutor.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Giuliani then used the redistribution-of-wealth line of attack to accuse Obama of socialism.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Speaking about the edge Obama has in the polls, Giuliani called Obama \u201cmedia-anointed\u201d and poked fun at his celebrity. Making fun of the stage on which Obama gave his acceptance speech<\/a> at the Democrats\u2019 presidential nominating convention in August, Giuliani said Obama plans to erect \u201ctemples\u201d at his inauguration and arrive on stage through a cloud of smoke.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t the best thing we can do mess that up?\u201d Giuliani asked, to which the response was a resounding \u201cYes!\u201d and loud applause.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Miranda Thomas, 9, was dressed as Palin at the event. While attacking Obama as inexperienced, Giuliani asked the girl to join him on stage. He took the opportunity to praise Palin and, referring to Thomas, said she \u201cis a lot better prepared\u201d than Obama to be president.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

In contrast to Obama, Giuliani said McCain \u201chas been fighting for us since he was a teenager.\u201d<\/p>\n
