{"id":3892,"date":"2008-10-23T21:23:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-24T03:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/10\/note-to-kob-tv-let-miller-debate\/"},"modified":"2008-10-23T21:23:00","modified_gmt":"2008-10-24T03:23:00","slug":"note-to-kob-tv-let-miller-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/10\/note-to-kob-tv-let-miller-debate\/","title":{"rendered":"Note to KOB-TV: Let Miller debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SQFANA2xd4I\/AAAAAAAAJJs\/VPtB6Pe4-54\/s1600-h\/Miller,+Carol.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 120px; height: 160px;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SQFANA2xd4I\/AAAAAAAAJJs\/VPtB6Pe4-54\/s200\/Miller,+Carol.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260556432057661314\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Here we go again: Another TV station wants to exclude independent 3rd Congressional District candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/carolmillercongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carol Miller<\/a> from a debate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Earlier this month, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.koat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">KOAT-TV<\/a> in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/miller-will-be-allowed-to-participate.html\">caved to pressure<\/a> and allowed Miller to participate in its debate along with Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benrlujan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n<\/a> and Republican <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daneast4congress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dan East<\/a>. Now, according to Miller, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kobtv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">KOB-TV<\/a> plans to exclude her from its debate scheduled for Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The situation is the same, so I\u2019m going to simply quote from <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/09\/note-to-koat-and-abqjournal-let-miller.html\">the article I wrote earlier this month<\/a> calling on KOAT-TV and the co-sponsoring <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a> to let Miller debate:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMedia organizations should know better. By excluding independent <a href=\"http:\/\/carolmillercongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carol Miller<\/a>, they\u2019re helping prop up the corrupt and morally bankrupt two-party system that dragged us into the current economic crisis and other problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201c\u2026 But the media isn\u2019t supposed to be part of that system. It\u2019s supposed to be independent of the powers-that-be. Especially at a time when <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">America<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> is in crisis and the public is fed up with the powers-that-be, you might think the media would take seriously its responsibility to be independent of that system.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Miller has received newspaper endorsements from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamonitor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Los Alamos Monitor<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lasvegasoptic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Las Vegas Optic<\/a>. She\u2019s a credible candidate. Not letting her debate would be a disservice to the public that would discredit KOB-TV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Contact KOB-TV and urge the station to let Miller participate in the debate.
