He\u2019s been counted out time and time again,\u201d Huntsman said in a telephone interview. \u201cHe\u2019s a fighter, and when he says this is where he likes to be\u2026 that\u2019s because this is exactly where he\u2019s most comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SPUEFLn_4zI\/AAAAAAAAJB8\/lqr9B4yrTn0\/s1600-h\/McCain,+John.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SPUEFLn_4zI\/AAAAAAAAJB8\/lqr9B4yrTn0\/s200\/McCain,+John.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257112627091333938\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Huntsman held a get-out-the-vote rally at the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Farmington<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Civic<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Center<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> and met with McCain volunteers today. In talking with McCain supporters, he said he found that \u201cthere\u2019s a lot of hopefulness that there will be a reliable McCain surge in the last three weeks of the campaign.\u201d He cited the economic message McCain unveiled this week, which the governor characterized as being \u201cabout the focus on <st1:street st=\"on\"><st1:address st=\"on\">Main Street<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> as opposed to Wall Street, and the focus on entrepreneurship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The state Huntsman leads is surrounded by three battlegrounds in the presidential race &#8212; <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state>, <st1:state st=\"on\">Colorado<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Nevada<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. Though today\u2019s was Huntsman\u2019s first visit to the <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Land<\/st1:placetype> of <st1:placename st=\"on\">Enchantment<\/st1:placename> to campaign for McCain, he said he has now visited every Western state and several others to campaign for the <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Arizona<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> senator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Huntsman said he\u2019s optimistic about McCain\u2019s chances in the three Western states that will help decide the election. He said McCain and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmccain.com\/about\/governorpalin.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Palin<\/a> make up \u201cthe quintessential Western ticket\u201d and said McCain is able to speak the language of the West. It\u2019s critical to elect leaders from the West, he said, because it\u2019s a region that is \u201cmore relevant than ever before\u201d and one that is growing, changing and innovating for the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe West is going to set the agenda for the <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">United States<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> for the next generation,\u201d Huntsman said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican presidential candidate John McCain may be trailing Democratic opponent Barack Obama in the polls right now, but don\u2019t be surprised if McCain surges in the last three weeks of the race.
