Domenici, who is retiring because he has been diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease, has a daughter who suffers from schizophrenia. <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/work-on-mental-health-parity-caps.html\">As I\u2019ve reported<\/a>, he worked for years with a bipartisan group of senators to get the bill passed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">TIME spoke with Domenici about the legislation, the state of mental health care in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">America<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> and his hopes for the future.
