But <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> isn\u2019t at the top of CQ\u2019s list for that job: He\u2019s third behind <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Susan_E._Rice\" target=\"_blank\">Susan E. Rice<\/a>, Obama\u2019s senior foreign policy advisor, and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Holbrooke\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Hollbrooke<\/a>, a former assistant secretary of state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SO6NAQh0_oI\/AAAAAAAAI_k\/S8nPORbFsXc\/s1600-h\/Richardson,+Bill.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SO6NAQh0_oI\/AAAAAAAAI_k\/S8nPORbFsXc\/s200\/Richardson,+Bill.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255292850764316290\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In writing about <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, CQ highlights his former jobs as U.N. ambassador and energy secretary, his endorsement of Obama after he ended his own presidential campaign last year and the continuation of his international work even as he has been governor. It also mentions his seven terms in the House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state>\u2019s two Republican <st1:country-region st=\"on\">U.S.<\/st1:country-region> representatives are ranked by CQ as more likely to get cabinet positions in a potential McCain administration than <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is in a potential Obama administration. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is first on CQ\u2019s list of potential energy secretaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though she lost the GOP primary, CQ writes, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is \u201cstill regarded in GOP circles as a political and intellectual force, especially on energy issues.\u201d The article cites her membership on the Senate Intelligence Committee and states that her experience \u201cdovetails with one of the Energy Department\u2019s primary jobs: managing the nation\u2019s nuclear weapons arsenal.\u201d She has supported boosting nuclear energy, like McCain, and, the article states, like McCain \u201cshe has not been shy about bucking her party\u2019s leadership and says she has always regarded herself as an iconoclast who makes up her own mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SO6NAhDKCrI\/AAAAAAAAI_0\/eydvt4GuC74\/s1600-h\/Pearce,+Steve.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SO6NAhDKCrI\/AAAAAAAAI_0\/eydvt4GuC74\/s200\/Pearce,+Steve.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255292855199074994\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Pearce is second on CQ\u2019s list of potential interior secretaries in a potential McCain administration. Noting that he\u2019s trailing Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomudall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a> in polls of the Senate race, the article states that if he loses, \u201ca cabinet job could be more than adequate consolation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe former owner of an oil well services company, Pearce is a vocal member of the House Natural Resources Committee, who tends to favor expanded energy development on federal lands,\u201d the article states. \u201cA McCain administration could count on him to support additional oil and gas leasing, timber harvesting and mining. But his staunch conservatism could bring intense opposition from environmentalists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ahead of Pearce is Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/allard.senate.gov\/public\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wayne Allard<\/a>, R-Colo.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richardson and Wilson have been carrying a lot of water for their party\u2019s presidential candidates in recent months.
