Here\u2019s a lesson in civility for the rest of us.<\/p>\n
Ben Glickler and Amy Weathers are married. They\u2019re both Democrats. They live under the same roof.<\/p>\n While one supports Democrat Barack Obama<\/a> in the presidential race, the other supports Republican John McCain<\/a>. Their story can be found today in the Las Cruces Sun-News<\/a>, along with a fascinating photo of the two crouching behind their respective candidate\u2019s yard signs in front of their Weathers told the newspaper the two have \u201ca friendly rivalry.\u201d While Glickler said he\u2019s a \u201cliberal hawk,\u201d Weathers said she \u201cwasn\u2019t necessarily against the war, but against the way it\u2019s played out.\u201d<\/p>\n So they find common ground, according to the newspaper, in social issues, and they remember \u201cthat neither candidate is the caricature — good or bad — that sound bites make them out to be.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to come out and say, \u2018Obama\u2019s a terrorist.\u2019 I\u2019m going to look at what he\u2019s saying, where he is politically,\u201d the Sun-News quoted Glickler as saying. \u201cA lot of the time, it takes just a little bit of research. There\u2019s no reason for anybody to believe that Obama\u2019s a Muslim or that McCain\u2019s a fascist.\u201d<\/p>\n The last quote in the article is a gem:<\/p>\n \u201cMy parents often say, \u2018Why do you guys vote?
